Santa’s Christmas Tree Forest, owned by Jack and Judy Ewing, will host the fall meeting of the Florida Christmas Tree Association on Saturday September 17. The farm is located ten miles east of Eustis at 35317 Huff Rd. This meeting will be an all day seminar on how to grow and market Christmas trees and is sponsored by the Florida Christmas Tree Association. Registration will be free for first time attendees. Instructors are members of the association who have been growing Christmas trees for decades and are experts in the field. Subjects that will be covered include: planting, pruning, shearing, pests, spraying, marketing, pricing and agritourism. Although this seminar will concentrate on the new growers and those who are thinking of starting a Christmas tree farm, the seasoned growers will also pick up tips from their fellow growers.

Lunch will be at the farm and attendees will have a choice of hot or sweat Italian sausage, quarter pound hot dog or grilled chicken sandwich served with drink, fruit and chips all for $5.

Dinner will also be at the farm and will be chicken/pork BBQ with sides for $10.

The Quality Inn & Suites, 16630 U.S. Highway 441 W. Mount Dora, is offering a special FCTA rate of $54.99 plus tax for a two bed or king. Two room suites are $64.99 plus tax.
